About

We would consider NHL Hot Stove an all inclusive hockey site focused on reporting and analyzing the news in both the NHL and the rest of the hockey world. The main topics of discussion are the trending topics of the hockey world, whether on or off the ice.  We here pride ourselves in reporting information correctly by using legitimate sources published by journalists around the world. There is no bias, all teams will be covered, eventually.

In addition, we focus on covering the trending news and feature unique and well-written player profiles, trade rumors and exclusive hockey series including: Restoring the Rosters, The Man Behind the Mask, Ushering in a New Generation and Cost-Efficiency.

Now to the writers, the people who make the site what it is today.

Laura Astorian – NHLHS St. Louis Blues / Atlanta Thrashers Correspondent

#02 I am a freelance blogger for both the St. Louis Blues and the Atlanta Thrashers (I’m from StL, but live in the ATL) over at my site,Thrashing The Blues.  I also write a weekly feature over at St. Louis Game Time called “Tuesdays With Hildy,” which tackles hard hitting issues such as which team Blues fans need to hate more – Detroit or Chicago, and more broad hockey topics like if the plus/minus rating is useful and such.

I’ve been following hockey for about 20 years, falling in love with the game during the era of Hull and Oates, and continuing my obsession even after moving to Atlanta, which, at the time, had no hockey team.  You can only play NHL ’94 and survive on FedExed hockey card packets so long, so thankfully the NHL decided to approve a team down here in 1997.  I’ve been attending Thrashers games since that first one against the Devils – a 4-1 loss – and have enjoyed watching the team go through their growing fits into the youth driven squad they are today.

My first love is, of course, the Blues, who I still follow obsessively and watch on Center Ice.  I’m also a Thrashers STH (glutton for punishment), so you should expect a pretty up close look at both of the teams.  I don’t play hockey (I’m hell on skates), but if I did I’d have to go with #2 as my number.  Not any player’s number in particular, but it’s a nickname I’ve gone by since my sorority days, and it kind of fits my personality pretty darn well.

Ryan Hackett – NHLHS Chicago Blackhawks Correspondent

#17 I’m a lifelong Blackhawks fan, I live a stone’s throw from the Madhouse on Madison, and I wear my loyalty on my sleeve (literally, just ask, I’ll show you).  I grew up in the rinks of greater Milwaukee and Chicagoland, and have been cheering on the Blackhawks for close to 30 years now.  In addition to hockey, I enjoy all sports, music, cooking, beer, and all things Chicago.  I am here to be your source for Blackhawks information and a longtime fan’s perspective on the team with the best logo in sports.  As part of my own brand of puck talk, I’ll usually provide you with the album I’m listening to while writing.  Check them out, I dig feedback on that as well!  I have my jersey strapped down, let’s go!!
