Pens add grit by signing Aaron Asham
Asham agreed to a one-year, one-way deal worth 700K to come over from Division rival Philadelphia Flyers--where he posted 10 goals and 14 assists. Asham also scored four goals in the playoffs on his way to the Stanley Cup Finals with Philadelphia.

Whitfield’s season in doubt after achilles injury
It was reported by Comcast Sports New England that Whitfield sustained the injury while working out. Whitfield played 20 games, including four playoff games, in the 09-10 season for Boston and registered just one assist. In 52 games with the Providence Bruins, of the AHL, he tallied 17 goals for 43 points.
