Jon Sim set to play in Europe after clearing waivers
After being placed on waivers multiple times by the Isles, it appears Jon Sim is headed to Switzerland, NHLHS New York Islanders correspondent Christian Arnold has the story.

Jon Sim’s tenure as a New York Islander will be coming to an end when the 33-year-old clears unconditional waivers.
Sim was placed on waivers on Monday and failed to report to Bridgeport on Tuesday. He was subsequently suspended by the Islanders for not reporting to the Islanders minor league affiliate and then recently placed on unconditional waivers.
Expecting to clear waivers tomorrow, Sim has made plans to head to Europe and play for a team in Switzerland. “I’m a loyal guy and I expect a lot of myself and believe me, this was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, but I had to make this decision for my family,” Jon Sim told Newsday’s Katie Strang.
Sim has appeared in 34 games with one goal, three assists, and four points and was a minus-ten this season with the Islanders. Sim, who had already been placed on waivers three times before Monday, had a little more success with the Sound Tigers. During his three previous stints with the AHL club Sim had seven goals and two assists in eight games.
While some would think Sim would be upset with the way the Islanders have funneled him back and forth, Sim was very appreciative of the opportunity he had on Long Island.
“I appreciate everything Garth and Charles have done for me in my time on Long Island in giving me an opportunity to play here,” Sim told Newsday. “I have a lot to be thankful for.”

[...] So long, John Sim. Welcome to Switzerland. Signed, New York Islanders. [NHLHotStove.com] [...]
Shame that a talent like Jon got no ice time.
When he had time, he scored, as his time in Bridgeport showed! Will miss watching your exciting contribution to the game.
I have to disagree. He had plenty of chances and was utilized on the power play alot more than many fans wanted. Sim was a good guy, but I think his time had to come to an end.
give me a break i like how you fans think you know hockey , you guys don’t have a clue your all dummies
