What really pisses me off is that I am not happy making the playoffs. The team is horrible infront of Quick. No goalie could help. I thought we added vets at the trading deadline for this reason alone. I am sick of Brown saying “we need to look in the mirror and ask ourselves if we could play harder”..he needs to shut the door and kick some ass. We will make the playoffs only to get boat raced out of the first series. When do the fans focus on the organization and demand the product fit their loyalty. I gave up seats until the Kings got back into the playoffs ..I am still waiting.
You know I think you bring up a good point. Has Brown been given the chance to have one of those all too infamous team only meetings? Close the door… let the shit hit the fan.. get it all out there and everyone kick each other’s ass? He starts and then the veterans kick in and so forth. And someone in that time can level Drew back to earth, please? And maybe since Matt Green is back and hasn’t scored on Quick he could do a quick rebrief on how to keep the puck OUT of the net?
As for the goalie- I agree at this point. It is one of those– back to back situations where it has been a long stretch of games and the team is playing like a midget team and so you give Quick a break. I’d be fine with that except that isn’t what happened here. Let’s face it. Quick could’ve blasted the Wild out of the rink with a shout-out and Bernier would be in net tomorrow. He knew that. The team knew that. The team knows that management is making knee-jerk panic decisions because faith is waning. It did not help tonight AT ALL.. that is why I’m upset. I understand why it should be done NOW.. not at 10AM this morning. Principal of it and process darlin’
As for losing in the first round- I think we all need to take a breather and know that has to come first. We weren’t going from hell to heaven in a couple years.. rebuilding takes time.. crawl, walk, run. The Kings were over achieving for a long time this year and now they are NOSE-DIVING. Anyhow, I expect should they play, say Chicago to cry like a baby they made it, see them get their asses handed to them.. and step forward next year- and maybe win it all a year after. Should they play a rival or Vancouver maybe we get out of the 1st round LOL.
Although I am a big brownie fan..maybe the C needs to go to someone else ? Brown might not want to speak out against the older vets… you that respect thingy. Anyway no change this year. I guess being slapped by reality sucks. At the beginning of the year if you ask any King’s fan would you be happy with 7th or the 8th spot they would be doing back flips. No one (including me) thought the team would be competitive all yr, Of course look at the teams not in the mix Stars, Blues and Ducks. But when the team was leading the west or winning 9 in a row all of our expectation grew.
I feel like a Chargers fan….
I am not fan of baby steps .. we have been patient long enough although I know that is how it works..playoffs, conf finals, stanley cup loss and finally PARADE !
oh… I hear what you are saying but it would break my heart to do that with him and what veteran would you give it to that would be around long enough before he would end up being asked to do it again or would piss him off and we’d lose him? I don’t want to lose him. Kopitar is the only other possibility really, and I don’t know that he would be anymore willing at this point, to speak up. Maybe a veteran needs to speak up, veteran or not.
Scuderi won the cup next year, so speak up. O’Donnell has had a lot of success IN THAT DIVISION and the West, speak the hell up. You know? You don’t HAVE TO wear the C to speak up. The Red Wings are proof of that. Both Yzerman and Lidstrom are more the quiet lead by example leaders and Yzerman one of the best ever in the NHL… but others had no problem opening their mouth when necessary. So why not?
Yes I agree with what you are saying.. the Kingdom got spoiled REALLY fast.. I talked about it in the original home of my blog. And you might not be a FAN of baby steps, but it is the way a SOLID rebuilding works. Short cuts lead to one cup and out (look at the Rangers- yeah they ended the curse but then what?)You want the Devils or Wings kind of run? Baby steps have to be the way. So as painful as it is… it is better then what has been.. and will make the future that much more sweet. Try and think of it that way, if possible. Oh a parade.. I’m SO there!
