Atlantic Division Draft Review
NHLHS Corrospondent Mike Murangi, who covered the draft for NHLHS, breaks down the Atlantic Division in his draft review.
Atlantic Division Draft Review:
Coming to Los Angeles, two Atlantic Division teams did not have first round picks. The New Jersey Devils sent their pick to the Atlanta Thrashers in the Ilya Kovlchuk deal, and the Flyers traded their pick to the Anaheim Ducks in the Chris Pronger deal.
One trade worked; one did not.
In this article, I will review the first-round pick or top pick for each of all five Atlantic Division teams, and late-round picks that may be gems. I will release each of the other five divisions over the next few days. I would love to hear feedback about what you think, or if you have a question about your favorite team please email me at MMurangi@nhlhotstove.com .

The Draft With Little Fanfare
NHLHS Entry Draft Correspondent Mike Murangi recaps what was the NHL Entry Draft weekend from Los Angeles.
Staples Center, Los Angeles Ca,- The 2010 NHL entry draft was one of the dullest drafts in recent memory. Going into Friday, there were two large trades, and several star players on the block. After Friday, every one of those players were still with their current clubs.

NHLHS Mock Draft: With the Number Twelve Pick…
NHLHS Mock Draft is our latest feature where we collectively predict the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The draft is a crapshoot and we will be wrong… …but we thought it would be fun to try.

Ushering in a New Generation: Toronto Maple Leafs
Ushering in a New Generation, features our talented writer Katlyn Gambill taking a deeper look into team success based on a player’s age. Today, she looks at the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are the sixteenth oldest team in the league.

At an average player age of 27.52 years, the Toronto Maple Leafs are on the younger side of the league. Unfortunately though, they could not use their youth to their advantage this season.

The Man Behind the Mask: Ilya Bryzgalov
The NHLHS Man Behind The Mask series is a profile on some of the best goalies in the league to ever wear the “mask”. We hope you enjoy the latest installment of the NHLHS MBTM series.
Mature for this league, although some may differ when it comes to age. Either way, neither have prevented Coyotes number one goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov from performing as nothing short of outstanding.
His performance during last year’s IIHF World Championship tournament opened some eyes to the fans who are not as open to the small market teams and their players.
Bryzgalov helped Russia capture gold with a stellar performance during the tournament. Carrying that momentum into this season has provided the Coyotes with a man who can now place his name among the tops in the league within the position.
This year, Ilya Bryzgalov has helped his Phoenix Coyotes into their first playoff birth in many years. He has been rewarded from his outstanding play as being one of the three finalist for the Vezina trophy. The other two: New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Broduer and Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller. Not to shabby to be part of that group of goalies.

Blake Breathes Life Into Ducks’ Playoff Hopes
“The good thing for us is we’re not even worried about who we’re playing right now,” Anaheim Ducks’ forward, Jason Blake said. “We’re just worried about ourselves. If we keep playing the way we’re playing, and the goal tending has been great, it’s giving us a chance every night.”
In a game highlighted by Anaheim players equaling records, the Ducks topped the Avalanche 5 – 2 in Colorado. This is the team’s 7th victory in 9 games and puts Anaheim at 7 points behind the 8th ranked Colorado team in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Bonino Shines In Ducks’ Win Over Stars
On a night devoted to honoring future Hall of Famer, Teemu Selanne for his latest achievement, rookie centerman, Nick Bonino stole a piece of the spotlight.
Following a touching, pre-game ceremony given to honor the Finnish Flash becoming only the 18th player to score 600 goals in his career, recently signed, Bonino notched his first goal in an Anaheim Ducks’ uniform and his first goal as a National Hockey League player. The goal came at 8:11 of the second period with a little help from line-mates Selanne and Corey Perry. It was the opening goal of the night for the Ducks and helped to carry the team to a 3 -1 win over the Dallas Stars.
