Pittsburgh Penguins Offseason Update
NHLHS Pittsburgh Penguins Correspondent takes a look at the off-season to date for the team.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have had one of the more active and productive off-seasons of the Eastern Conference contenders. Flyers Deal Hamhuis’ Rights to Pens; Inquire about Nabokov
NHLHS Philadelphia Flyers Correspondent David Strehle takes a look at the Flyers decision to move the rights to pending UFA defenseman Dan Hamhuis to the Atlantic Division rival Pittsburgh Penguins and the rumors that Paul Holmgren is talking about acquiring the rights to one of the top pending UFA goaltenders, Evgeni Nabokov.
For the Philadelphia Flyers, NHL Entry Draft day is usually a very busy time. Last year GM Paul Holmgren pulled the trigger on the Chris Pronger deal with the Anaheim Ducks, and the previous year moved forward R.J. Umberger to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a first round pick (Luca Sbisa, who ended up being dealt to Anaheim in the Pronger trade).

The Value of: Raffi Torres
NHL Hot Stove presents it’s “The Value Of” series which will look at some of the names discussed around the NHL who likely will be moved at the March 3rd trade deadline.
As of this writing the Columbus Blue Jackets sit 14th in the Western Conference and 26th in the entire League. With only four wins and eight points in their last ten games, the ship seems to be sinking. GM Scott Howson likely will move his expiring contracts before season’s end leaving a player like Raffi Torres of great interest.
