Flyers 5-2 Victory Over Lightning Could be Costly Win

The Flyers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-2 tonight, but there should be a guarded enthusiasm that goes along with the victory. NHL leading scorer Claude Giroux and goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov each left the game early with injuries.

Could Giroux, Read, and Couturier Become Flyers ‘Firsts’ This Season?

Throughout mostly 43 banner seasons, the Flyers have had some incredible honors bestowed upon them. Three that have never made their way to the City of Brotherly Love are the Art Ross, Calder, and Lady Byng awards. That could all change this season.

Jagr, Hartnell Finally Get on the Board to Lead Flyers

For a team struggling to find ways to score goals, Monday's 4-2 win over Toronto featured some positives in the scoring department. Two players who are being counted on to produce, but hadn't lit the lamp yet this year, provided all the offense the Flyers would need.

Flyers Lose Pronger for at Least Two Weeks

Pronger immediately fell to the ice, dropped his gloves and started waving his hands in motioning to the bench that he was in trouble. For a player who has never shown fear on the ice, it was apparent that he sensed he was in danger by the reaction.

Lack of Discipline, Mental Mistakes Costing Flyers Early-Season Points

While there have been many positives in the 4-0-1 start to the regular season, something has been rearing its ugly head in the Flyers game that has haunted them in the past. The lack of discipline that was so apparent at times for much of the past few seasons has now cost the Flyers a few valuable points in the standings.

Versteeg Dealt to Panthers, Leino Signs in Buffalo

Kris Versteeg's brief time in Philadelphia came to an expected and abrupt end this afternoon, when he was sent to Florida for two draft picks. The Flyers acquired a second round pick in the 2012 or 2013 NHL Entry Draft (Florida's choice), and a third-rounder in 2013.
