NHLHS Mock Draft: With the Number Eight Pick…

NHLHS Mock Draft is our latest feature where we collectively predict the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The draft is a crapshoot and we will be wrong… …but we thought it would be fun to try.

With the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Atlanta Thrashers select…

Ryan Johansen

The Thrashers need a forward, and they need a centerman to make up for the losses of Jonas Enlund and Niklas Lucenius, both of whom returned to the Finnish Elite League with nary a contract offer in sight. New GM Rick Dudley prefers to draft best available player, not necessarily by position, so if the scrappy forward for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks is available, he should be our pick. Sixty nine points in 71 games played are not half bad stats, so if ISS’s 8th ranked skater overall is willing to play center if needed, well, bully for him – and for the Thrashers.
